Derrick Martin
Accuracy Speaks Customers,
On 1 AUG 2010, I sold my controlling interest in
Accuracy Speaks, Inc. to my protégé, Mr. Martin
Kolodziej. He has worked for us since 2005, and it
was always my intent to sell him the business. I
will still be involved and available in the shop
FRI-SUN most weekends. We will still offer the
experience and services that have brought you to
Accuracy Speaks, Inc. for the last 20 years.
Additionally, we will be offering a variety of
classes in Long Range Shooting, NRA Service Rifle
and Gunsmithing. Please check this website for dates
and pricing.
THANX and GOOD SHOOTIN'
DERRICK & CHERYL

It has been two years since my last update to this message
board. Since then, I have been working for the Arizona Army
National Guard, first as a soldier during my recovery and
Physical Therapy after the surgery, and after as a civilian. I
worked in the Training Site Command, writing Training Plans for
deploying units. It seems that Marksmanship has become a new
priority, as the lessons learned from the War are implemented.
We now train Close Quarter Battle and Squad Designated Marksman.
It seems we couldn’t hit anything close or far, but somehow
everything in between was just fine.
My arm and shoulder never regained their full use and it was
determined that I was no longer able to serve in the National
Guard. My last day in the Army was 24 AUG 2006, and it was spent
driving an open cab truck 200 miles in a rain storm. That pretty
much summed up my 30 years of service, always the guy for the
dirty job.
I spent the next several months as the Site Supervisor at the
Florence Training Site. I oversaw the operation and maintenance
of 12 ranges and 20,000 acres of land.
In JAN of 2007, I was reassigned as the Range Master Planner for
the AZNG. There has been a paradigm shift in the Guard. We are
no longer preparing for a massed land battle in Europe. The AZNG
Artillery and Transportation units are becoming Infantry and
Military Police. The problem is that we have Artillery Ranges
and no Infantry Ranges. I have 12 Ranges planned at Camp
Navajo, in Flag staff and 6 Ranges planned in Florence. However,
there are no funds allocated for their construction, so we are
building them with available materials and labor. I spend more
time driving the equipment and fixing it than designing new
ranges. One day “Big Army” may send us some money, until then,
we “build it out of hide”.
I am still heavily involved with the Marksmanship Program (SARTB),
although I am no longer an active competitor. We have several
very competent people and I am moving into a support role. It is
now time for others to take over.
Accuracy Speaks is still very much a growing concern. Mr.
Kolodziej has proved to be a very capable Gunsmith and
Businessman, he has been asked to manage the day to day
operation of the shop. I am in the store from FRI-SUN most
weeks.

Accuracy Speaks, Inc. has built and modified the
best competition firearms for National and World Champions since 1989. Let our
proven innovative products improve your shooting!
Derrick
Martin’s lifelong interest in firearms led him to enlist in the Marine
Corps at 1976, where he first entered competitive shooting. Upon
discharge he enrolled in the Trinidad Jr. College gunsmithing program and graduated in 1980. He
spent the next ten years in retail gunsmithing, working for Safari Arms,
Smith Enterprises, and retail gun stores in Arizona and Nevada.
During that time he was an active
NRA High power rifle competitor with the Arizona National Guard and the
All National Guard rifle team. He became a Distinguished Rifleman in
1987, joined the Palma Twenty in 1988, also becoming a President’s 100
shooter in 1988, an NRA High Master in 1992, and a National Guard
Chief’s Fifty Shooter in 1995. Derrick became a Distinguished Pistol
Shot in 1996.
Derrick has been a continuous member of
the All National Guard rifle team since 1988, and has been on winning
teams at the National Guard Wilson Matches, All Army matches, and
interservice competition at Camp Perry, as well as the Australian and
British Skill At Arms Matches. In 1993 he developed the National
Guard’s M16 match rifle program and has been a leading national
proponent of the M16 both as a service rifle and NRA match rifle.
Accuracy Speaks was founded in 1989 and
has been a mainstay in the shooting sports, both regionally and
nationally, ever since. In partnership with Derrick’s wife Cheryl,
the company has built and modified firearms for national and world
champions.
